Dr. Dog brings its slow-building bliss to Town

Dr. Dog might be my favorite current band name, but the Philadelphia natives have proven to be far more than another-band-with-a-clever-name.

In fact, they've pretty much broken into the mainstream. Most recent album Shame, Shame cracked the top fifty, and has spawned one of the best singles of the last few months, the slow-building epic that is "Shadow People." (Watch the roller-skating-rink-set video here.)

They've also been touring hard, and make a return visit to Buffalo on October 18 at Town Ballroom. It's a nice chance to see two rising young indie groups, since Here We Go Magic opens the show. Their latest, Pigeons, has drawn plenty of praise, too.
