Hallelujah the Hills has eyes for Babeville
While the Swell Season/Low Anthem show on July 27 has garnered much of the summer Babeville buzz, there's a just-as-interesting Ninth Ward concert on July 13: Titus Andronicus with Hallelujah the Hills.
Jersey's Titus is clearly a band on the verge of a breakthrough; its second full-length release, The Monitor, has drawn heavy praise. But the gorgeously named Hallelujah the Hills is not far behind. (In fact, Hills will join Titus on stage.)
The Boston-based band's obvious influence might be Guided by Voices, but musically, it's an ambitious stew of cello, organ, trumpet, and more. And songs like "Blank Passports" and "Introductory Saints" are hooky wonders.
So an intimate Ninth Ward performance is probably a must-see.
