The 9th Annual Western New York Black Film Festival will open Saturday, February 19 at 6 p.m. at the Market Arcade Theater. The festival offers an entertaining lineup, including Buffalo musician Billy Drease Williams’ critically acclaimed short film/long form music video, Run.

Run is a seven minute music video that serves as the third single from the Buffalo musician's album, “Good Morning Amy.” The video was shot entirely in Western New York featuring Buffalo talent and went viral only days after its launch on YouTube. Since then it has received more than a half million views. Billy Drease Williams is an artist signed to the Buffalo based record label, DTR45.

Along with Run, other opening films include: Shuga, Results, Good Intentions, Katrina’s Son, Brothers Incorporated, and Mr. Graham. Each film deals with important issues that effect the African American community but are relatable to people of any background.

The goal of the WNY Black Film Festival is to educate the public regarding issues which are vital to the African American community, in addition to supporting the efforts of independent filmmakers.
