Now in its third year, Ballpark Brew Bash, hosted by the Buffalo Bisons and sponsored by Consumer’s Beverages, is positioned to take the lead as one of Western New York’s most highly regarded beer events. The event takes place on September 15 this year from 4 to 8 p.m.; for $25 attendees have access to over 60 breweries (admission includes 20 tasting tickets; additional tastes are $1.00 each). For $60, a VIP experience, complete with food and over 20 hard-to-find beers in addition to the festival’s regular offerings, is available. Ticket proceeds will benefit Team Cure of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

"We’re looking to make this a really unique event, focused on bringing in hard-to-find beers that you may not see at other festivals," said Rob Free, Director of Food Service for the Bisons. “We are at sixty breweries and over 130 different beers from Europe and all over America. Obviously we also want to think local, so our friends at Flying Bison will be there as well as Southern Tier, and Ellicottville. Rochester has very good representation too.” EDIT: Dan Conley of Buffalo's newest nanobrewery, Community Beer Works, has informed me that they will be in attendance as well, bringing whiskey barrel-aged Whale for VIP guests and De Maas and Frank through a hop rocket for all attendees. Judging from that selection it's clear that this event will feature a very special and impressive lineup of beers.

The event will feature live music (and, just for fun, an area specific to music-themed beers such as Purple Haze, Rye of the Tiger, and Dream Weaver) in addition to a chili cook-off and sauce sampler hosted by Headstone Heat. Still-hungry guests can enjoy a pig roast, courtesy of BW’s Smokin’ Barrels Barbeque. Finally, in a new and interesting twist, Ballpark Brew Bash will feature an award ceremony for the first annual Consumer's Beverages Homebrew Competition in coordination with the Niagara Association of Homebrewers. Judging for the competition took place last week; winners will be announced at Brew Bash with prizes awarded based on style categories.

Ballpark Brew Bash tickets are available at all Consumer's Beverages locations, the Coca-Cola Field Box Office, or tickets.com, or by calling (716) 846-2032.
