Spree Music with E. Lovria: Steve Kimock
Steve Kimock, a man who could be defined as a guitarist’s guitarist, is coming to the Tralf on Wednesday, May 16. From traditional rock to jazz and blues, from funk to world fusion or improvisational, gypsy, and psychedelic rock, Steve Kimock gives you a little something of everything as he weaves a colorful and mystifying tapestry of sound catering to a wide array of musical tastes. Kimock brings along with him keyboardist Bernie Worrell (founding member of Parliament Funkadelic, Talking Heads), drummer Wally Ingram, and bassists Andy Hess and Reed Mathis. This show will certainly prove to be well worth the ticket price.
Kimock, a four-decade veteran of the music business, began his musical journey in the 1970s with the California-based band The Goodman Brothers. He cites the culturally diverse music he discovered while in the San Francisco area as having great impact on his own style, still using those worldly sounds in his music to this day. Constantly pushing his musical boundaries and exploring a plethora of musical landscapes, have allowed Kimock to keep his music interesting and unpretentious. A musician of lesser talent could have easily taken this hodge podge of musical genres and creates a confusing mess of a musical storyline.
For those of you looking for a fantastic show with which to kick off the Buffalo summer music season, it’s Steve Kimock. Tickets are currently on sale at the Tralf Box office for $25 and $28. Doors open at 7pm and show begins at 8pm.
Elizabeth Lovria is a graduate of Lake Shore Central Schools and Syracuse University. She resides in Hamburg with her husband and their daughter.
