Tweedy at Town Ballroom

Funtime Presents is proud to host Jeff Tweedy, performing solo and with his new band, Tweedy, at the Town Ballroom on Wednesday, October 1. The music veteran will share acoustic renditions of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo tracks, in addition to songs from his newly released album.

The new band, Tweedy, is comprised of the musically gifted father son duo Jeff and Spencer Tweedy. The pair are slated to hit stages across the US and parts of Ontario in support of their debut album, Sukierae. For touring purposes, bassist Darrin Grey, keyboardist Liam Cunningham, and guitarist Jim Elkington will join the duo on stage to compile a full band.

The album, released September 23, has every element of a solo compilation, but was recorded with Jeff’s son Spencer on drums and percussion. The 20-track LP released by dBpm records teeters at the point of excellence between emotionally high and low moments.

The past year was a rollercoaster for the pair. Upon Jeff’s wife’s cancer diagnosis, music provided an important refuge for the family. Naming the album after her nickname only seemed appropriate, as the songs tap into feelings of both love and suffering.

Catch an emotionally compelling performance from Tweedy live on Wednesday, October 1, with openers Hospitality. Doors open at 7p.m. for the general admission show. Get your tickets online or at the Town Ballroom box office.
