Off to the Races

4:30–9 p.m., May 6, Knox Farm State Park, East Aurora

This Derby Day fundraiser for Crossroads Springs Africa includes food stations, a mint julep bar, beer, wine, a silent auction, and live music, as well as a viewing of the Kentucky Derby. Crossroads Springs provides financial support for high school students in Western Kenya.

Arts Services Initiative of WNY Spark Awards

Arts Services Initiative of WNY, an organization that supports and advocates for the arts, is recognizing exemplary people from the arts community with their annual Spark Awards.  Explore a gallery featuring work from the winners and finalists, and enjoy live performances, an open bar, and dinner.

Lawyers for Learning 17th Annual Bowling Tournament

6–8:30 pm, May 28 at Airport Lanes (3754 Genesee St, Cheektowaga

Every year, this event successfully raises money to fund supplies and programs for Buffalo Public School 18.  It also sponsors student trips to sleep away camp at Camp Weona.

The Great Plant Sale

Hot Off The Press Happy Hour 

5:30–7:30p.m., May 24, Community Beer Works, 15 Lafayette Avenue

Mingle with the staff of Buffalo Spree, help celebrate our fiftieth anniversary issue, meet people discussed in the issue, and play our trivia contest.
