Charitable events and revelry for a cause in February


Every month, Spree lists special events at Western New York’s many cultural and nonprofit organizations, fundraisers for area charities, and other happenings for good causes, including those we organize or co-organize. Sweet Charity

5–8 p.m., February 1, Adam’s Mark, 120 Church Lane

Enjoy both sweet and savory treats, wine, beer, spirits, and coffee at this benefit for the Food Bank of WNY. Admission also includes a surprise raffle ticket, three sheets of basket raffle tickets, nine wine ring tosses, and more.

Go Red for Women Luncheon

11 a.m.–1 p.m., February 2, Lexus Club at Key Bank Center, 1 Seymour H. Knox III Plaza

This annual event brings together local companies and hospitals to celebrate heart health and fight heart disease and strokes. It includes vendors and screenings, followed by lunch.

WEDI Winterfest 2016

6:30–9:30, February 9, at The Atrium at Rich’s, 1 Robert Rich Way

This night of fun and festivities presented by Westminster Economic Development Initiative includes food stations, cash bar, silent and live auctions, and live music, as well as informative presentations on WEDI’s plans for the future.

Hot off the Press Happy Hour

5:30–7:30 p.m., February 21, at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 468 Washington Street

Polar Bites

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Diamond Ball

6 p.m.–12 midnight, February 24, Samuel’s Grande Manor, 8750 Main Street, Williamsville

The LLS black tie gala celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. The event features cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a silent auction, and dancing until midnight.
