I’ve raved about this lovingly curated multinational multiarts mishmash for years now, but it’s always worth the attention. The 2018 edition includes a performance by the Magnetic Fields (during which Stephen Merritt, auteur of the much-loved and self-explanatory boxed set 69 Love Songs, marks his fiftieth birthday with, you guessed it, fifty new songs), a minifilm festival of acclaimed documentaries about women artists from Madonna to Fran Lebowitz, a concert by Icelandic film composer Ólafur Arnalds, a one-man show by Scottish illusionist Scott Silven that somehow incorporates fine dining and a whiskey tasting, and a free tribute to George Harrison featuring 100 electric guitarists and even more ukuleles. If you missed NYC experimental theater artists 600 Highwaymen when they visited Torn Space last season, you’ve got another chance. Oh, and onetime Buffalo anchorperson Nick Clooney interviews human rights lawyer/activist Amal Clooney. As they say, a little something for everyone.
