A bloody good Valentine from the Roller Girls

A bloody good Valentine from the Roller Girls

Bored with the usual candle-lit dinner for Valentine's Day? Ready for a rough and tumble celebration that you'll actually remember a year from now?

On February 13, recent Spree cover gals the Queen City Roller Girls are hosting “My Bloody Valentine” at Rainbow Roller Rink, 104 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, all to benefit Planned Parenthood. And this is not your run of the mill mush-fest—no champagne and roses here, folks.

The bout between the Alley Katz and the Suicidal Saucies is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. It should be quite a battle, as the Alley Katz are eager to try and show up the two-time defending QCRG champion Suicidal Saucies.

Halftime festivities include a performance by the Stamp Lickers, the traditional Al Cohen’s Rye Bread Toss, and also roller derby trivia by announcers Mason Stone and Mia Mauler. At the end of the bout, a couch from FWS will be auctioned off at $1 per ticket and $5 for an arm’s length.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $17 at the door. Buying tickets in advance is recommended due to the large number of anticipated spectators. To learn more about the Queen City Roller Girls visit their website.

Tickets can be purchased online, from select QCRG members, or at any of the following vendors: Rainbow Roller Rink, 104 Oliver St., North Tonawanda; Terrapin Station, 1172 Hertel Ave., Buffalo; Village Beer Merchant, 547 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo; ShoeFly, 801 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo; and RedHouse Tattoo, 4820 Broadway Ave., Depew.
