Two Western New Yorkers living with Down Syndrome were given an amazing surprise this week.
Emma Cahill and Sujeet Sindai were thrilled when Lawrence Ira Pleskow, president of When U Dream a Dream, Inc, a charity based in Buffalo, New York and Hawaii that provides education and inspires physically challenged individuals from around the world, surprised them with a trip to Darien Lake to see Grammy-winning band Chicago, complete with Buffalo police department providing a VIP escort from the Courtyard Marriott at Canalside to the concert.
“I work with disabled children,” says Pleskow, a retired sports therapist who was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. At last week's event, Pleskow also honored the band Chicago with the Orrefors Kosta Boda Crystal Inspiration Award.
Emma and Sujeet were also backstage to meet the band and get a behind the scenes look at the production.

Pleskow has made kids' dreams come true across the globe. His first bestowed "dream" was in 2002 when he brought a child with disabilities to the hit Broadway musical Cats. His next award is not quite ready to reveal, but will involve gifting a paralyzed Serbian girl with a chance to meet famed tennis player Novak Djokovic at the US Open.
