Saint Patrick's Day, Buffalo-style

The city of Buffalo is home to the third largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the nation. A few years back, Spree devoted an issue to the Irish in Buffalo and their influence on and contributions to building the city we know today. It's a fascinating history, check it out here. Directly inside South Buffalo’s Irish Heritage District on Abbott Street, a large building built in the 1920s was once a YMCA athletic club but today is well-known by the region’s large population of Irish-Americans as the Buffalo Irish Center. Read more about it here.
Of course, the WNY St. Patrick's Day experience would not be complete without attending a parade or two, wearing a bit of green, and maybe partaking of a sip or two of beer or spirits. The 2019 Saint Patrick's Day Parade is this Sunday, March 17 along Delaware Avenue at 2 p.m. Visit The United Irish American Association for details. Sláinte!
