Because bacon makes everything better
Put a piece of bacon on just about anything, and I will eat it. In the last year, I’ve tried bacon-flavored vodka (makes a terrific Bloody Mary), bacon gelato (oooh, maple syrup swirls), and a bacon chocolate bar, which at $8, was worth every penny I spent (approximately $2.66 per ounce). In fact, my go-to hangover cure is a nice greasy bacon sandwich, made with cream cheese on a toasted English muffin. With a big cup of milky coffee, this never fails to make me better even after a night of too many glasses of not-so-great Cabernet.
But is too much bacon a bad thing? Not to me, and not according to the guys at J&D’s Down Home Enterprises, makers of my favorite new product: Bacon Salt. This seasoning is low-sodium, fat-free, zero-calorie, vegetarian and kosher. And it’s freaking awesome.
I like Bacon Salt on my macaroni & cheese, garlic bread, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. It’s also good on scrambled eggs and in tomato soup. For an extra-special party treat, it’s excellent mixed into any sour-cream based dip.
The makers of Bacon Salt also produce Baconnaise—a delicious bacon-flavored sandwich spread, Bacon Pop—bacon-flavored popcorn, and Mmmvelopes—envelopes that give you pop of bacon flavor when you lick them. Check out the website at JDFoods.net.
Bacon Salt is available locally at Tops, Wegman’s, and the Christmas Tree Shop, for about $4.50 for a 2-ounce jar.

I forgot to mention the bacon-flavored lipbalm. Delicious.
