First round playoff picks for non-gamblers

First round playoff picks for non-gamblers

Is it possible the Sabres will fall to the Bruins in round one? Of course. Is it likely? Hello no.

But the other playoff series are a bit tougher to predict. Here are my personal picks:

BUFFALO VS. BOSTON—Sabres in five.

WASHINGTON VS. MONTREAL—This could be a surprising series, but I still go Caps in seven.

PITTSBURGH VS. OTTAWA—Pens in six. (And likely repeating as Cup champs.)

NEW JERSEY VS. PHILADELPHIA—Devils in four.

SAN JOSE VS. COLORADO—Sharks escape the first, and win in six.

PHOENIX VS. DETROIT—Sorry Coyotes—Red Wings in seven.

CHICAGO VS. NASHVILLE—Blackhawks in four. (They're my Cup pick from the West.)

VANCOUVER VS. LOS ANGELES—Kings in six, unless Luongo gets hot.

Agree? Disagree? Comment, y'all.

Our regular sports blogger John Hakes offers up the following picks: Buffalo, Washington, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, San Jose, Detroit, Chicago, and Vancouver.
