“Remember, this season, it’s all about the embellishment ...” a disembodied voice said in my ear.
Nope, I wasn’t hallucinating: that was just the subliminal voice-over coming through the in-store speakers at Marshall’s, where I confess I went today as part of my pre-spring, weather-induced shopping binge. Well, I don’t have to be a fashion-victim, vis\-a-vis embellishments, or, then again, I might just, ahem, wanna be.
I did buy a pair of shoes, though not at Marshall's. They’re by the California-based brand Seychelles. And they are—embellished! With flowers. Shoefly on Elmwood knows the way to my heart—or my feet—apparently, carrying plenty of styles in size 9.5 and 10. The tiny boutique makes me feel that I am getting something special.
Aaaaand, I got a costume jewelry ring. It’s a ... FLOWER!
Okay, it might seem as though the embellishment message had a willing target in my case, but who can resist? Not when the embellishments are flowers, the month is March, and the place is Buffalo. It’s a good thing I made it home, under budget and with some dignity intact. I promise I will try not to wear all of these things at once. But it’s going to be difficult!
