Spree Style with Erin Habes: From red carpet to real life
The Golden Globe Awards are always my favorite when it comes to the red carpet. It’s really the first time we get to see the noteworthy trends the stars are wearing from the spring/summer New York and Milan shows. Emerging colors, silhouettes, hair, makeup, and accessories are on display—and who could forget about the gossip! The best and worst dressed list is always a fun convo at the water cooler (or on Facebook), but how do we translate what we see on the stars into our own real fashion lives?
Indulge a little and use the Golden Globe as inspiration for your winter wardrobe. I’ve made it easy by breaking down the major trends: nudes, headbands, black & white and neon brights. Each can add a breath of fresh air to your winter darks, so take these looks to your closet. Shop the trends and re-vamp your look for that red carpet feel but with a healthy dose of reality!
NUDES
Nicole Kidman- Versace; Pixie Market- Sequin top

Skin tone, blush, nude, and taupe ... pale and pasty is in! Though we saw an abundance of nude colored dresses on the red carpet, embellishments were their saving grace. Don’t worry, you won’t feel naked. Sequins, grommets, and beaded detailing will bring this neutral color palette to life.
HEADBANDS
Charilze Theron- Blush colored chiffon Dior couture, Cartier hair band; Asos pearlized headband

The fem and flirty 1920s-era headband has been reborn in a subtle elegant fashion. Charilze Theron’s Cartier hair band offered a fresh direction with the perfect amount of coiffure candy. Expect to see this trend hit the much-anticipated 2012 wedding season!
BLACK & WHITE
Claire Danes- J. Mendel; Pixie Market- Striped blouse and Neck warmer

The contrasting black and white trend is a major combo for spring/summer fashion. Claire Danes was a classic beautyat The Globes, wearing J. Mendel. The texture and shoulder detail is a hip and fresh trend that provides an overall look that is clean and sophisticated. Bring this trend into your everyday wardrobe by incorporating black and white with stripes or patterns.Take it a step further with defining shoulder detail.
NEON BRIGHTS & NAIL ART
Zooey Deschanel- Prada; Cambridge Satchel- Neon bag

Zoey Deschanel had mixed reviews with her one-of-a-kind Prada, but really, how could she go wrong? (It was the hair that threw it off!) Nonetheless, all eyes were on the indie actress with her neon-accented couture gown and tuxedo nails ... I was blown away! Bring that pop of color into your drab winter wear with this fluorescent British satchel that’s all the rage.
