Spree Style with Erin Habes: Bureau

Men of Buffalo, rejoice! Bureau will be launching their first made-to-measure collection on the Mass Appeal stage this weekend. From a clever name to a dandy crew, Bureau, with its custom-made ethos, is the newest addition to the Buffalo fashion scene.

The brainchild of Cameron Rector, Joe Stocker, and Jon Eisenberg, Bureau offers bespoke custom tailored suiting and shirting. It’s clear that Rector, co-owner of Vera Pizzeria, has his finger on the pulse of what’s cool and innovative. He and his crew could even be credited with bringing the dandy revival to Buffalo—Vera’s craft cocktails dare men to dress in order to keep up. Mix in Stocker’s self-taught tailoring abilities and impeccable design skills with Eisenberg’s savvy sales aesthetic, and it’s a winning collaboration.

Bureau has yet to open its doors and it has already established itself as a one-stop shopping destination. Gentleman, you no longer have to fly all over the globe to get a custom made suit, as Bureau will be located at 830 Elmwood Avenue. Opening its doors on Saturday, November 30 in honor of Small Business Saturday (the alternative to the big box stores’ Black Friday), the men of Bureau have assured this author that the boutique’s interior will exceed expectations in terms of design. A sneak peak at the renderings revealed chevron flooring and wainscoting placed at an interesting angle.

I had a chance to chat with Stocker, Bureau’s design genius, and I was blown away by his knowledge of menswear. He mentioned Serge Gainsbourg as being the inspiration for what the team aims to do. “The whole idea and aesthetic came from the “relaxed elegance” of Gainsbourg. He was always the best dressed guy in the room, but he also looked like he didn’t give a s--t that he was.” Gainsbourg was a French singer, songwriter, poet, composer, artist, actor, and director. New Buffalo, meet the Bureau man.
