Beach Street by Kate
A local designer spotlight
Now that warm weather is finally within reach here in Buffalo, a new jewelry and accessory collection has arrived just in time. A sea-inspired line, known as Beach Street by Kate, offers a variety of custom rings, pendants and hair barrettes made with sea glass, amethyst, and other beautiful objects one might find near a beach.
Beach Street by Kate was created by Buffalo native Kathleen Smith, who has always been influenced by the beach and the sea, as well as all of the good vibes that come with it. After years of collecting sea glass from Lake Erie she began making wrap rings for herself and her friends, with the outlet of Instagram proving what potential it could have.
Smith’s adorable accessories will soon be available at Second Chic, located at 810 Elmwood Avenue. There will be a party at the boutique celebrating her launch as their newest local designer (as well as the shop’s fourth anniversary) on Friday, April 25 from 6–10pm. Both Beach Street by Kate and Second Chic will offer exclusive discounts for the night of this open-to-the-public party.
The starfish hair barrettes are a personal favorite for me, and I’m sure I’m not alone. At the reasonable price of $12, what girl could resist such a cute addition to any look, whether you’re dressed up or down.
Keep up with all updates as this adorable collection grows through Instagram and her Etsy shop (which will open following next week’s official launch.)
