Here come three great bands, for five bucks

Anyone who has paid attention to Buffalo Spree over the past couple years knows what enormous fans we are of the bands Here Come the Comets and Son of the Sun.

Here Come the Comets graced the pages of our April 2009 music issue; as Bruce Eaton wrote, "They've just hit the radar screen and are already shining brightly." The group'seponymous 2008 album was a stunner.

And Son was our pick as finest band in last year's "best of" issue. As we so eloquently put it: "A little bit psychedelic, a little bit alt-country, a little bit garage-rock, a little bit dreamy early-sixties pop, and god knows what else, all delivered with the kind of confidence that suggests these guys could (and should!) make a splash nationwide."

The Thermidors, meanwhile, have been a much-buzzed Buffalo band for the last several years—Lancaster boys make good.

Comets + Son + Thermidors = an incredible concert—tickets only $5—at Mohawk Place, this Saturday, January 23. And it's for a great cause: the Food Bank of WNY.

Doors open at 8 p.m., and in yet another selling point, Magic Hat Drafts are just $3 all night.
