Mike A's Lounge Offers New Everyday Menu
Last night, as I sat in the quiet cool of the gorgeous lounge at Mike A's at Hotel Lafayette, I admired the Art Deco decor and sipped on a refreshing craft cocktail consisting of gin, housemade tonic, cucumber soda, and rhurbarb chili foam. Soon some friends joined me and we lazily swirled our drinks and cubes around in our glasses and soaked in the vibe of Mike A's.
There are few more beautiful places in Western New York in which to have a drink, and the adjoining restaurant is offering some of the best food our region has ever seen. If you haevn't been, you should go. Don't save a treasure like this for a special occassion, though it is certainly a worthy choice for such. Allowing a restaurant with amazing food, drinks, and atmosphere to sit and wait for your birthday or anniversary is a waste.
I love to eat in a fine dining restaurant on any old day. A glass of wine and a couple of appetizers doesn't cost any more than some trecherous meal at a chain restaurant, and the food is undeniably better. But if you feel uncomfortable having such a simple meal in such a classy joint (though I assure you, there is nothing simple about what's going on over at Mike A's, from soup to nuts) here's another great excuse to head down for a visit.
Beginning July 19, the lounge will add a special, slightly more casual menu. You can still order the stunning Veal Oscar dish and other entrees from the full-tilt restaurant menu in the bar, but this new menu is tailored for bar guests alone. See below:

I've had a few of these items and I can't say enough about them. One of the best food experiences I've had in recent memory came at the hands of Mike A's talented barkeep Tony Rials, who paired an Americano with the French Onion Soup Croquette available on the above menu. The two worked so well together, well, I think I moaned at the table. It was nearly sinful.
Don't mothball your opportunity to have an amazing meal; our fine dining restaurants offer some of our best food options here in WNY, so why save them for a rainy day?
