There Ain’t No Party Like a Taco Truck Party
Christa Glennie Seychew
If you're lucky you can catch the Lloyd crew cooking up late night eats outside of Thirsty Buffalo on the weekends
The boys of Lloyd just don’t stop. As the first food truck in the area, and the first to get a permit to sling their tacos in the City of Buffalo, Lloyd Taco Trucks is at the forefront of all that’s hip and tasty on the mobile food scene. And they want you to join them to celebrate their second birthday.
On Friday, August 31 (that’s this Friday!) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., you can join Lloyd at Artisan Kitchens and Bath (200 Amherst Street, Buffalo, NY 14226) for an all-you-can-eat extravaganza. Get your pre-sale tickets at the truck this week, or take your chances that the event won’t sell out and get them at the door.
Either way, they’re $15, and you’ll be among the first to try the new tacos on Lloyd’s menu: Aztec-rubbed rib eye, al pastor, southern fried chicken, and Thai tofu. Yes, that’s right: al pastor tacos (also known as "shepherd’s tacos", they are traditionally marinated wth annatto sauce and served with served with pineapple, cilantro, chopped onions, and salsa) are making their long-awaited debut in WNY. Beyond that, you’ll also be able to nosh on watermelon and feta salad, and a dulce de leche dessert.
DJ Cutler will provide music, and all the crew from Lloyd and Lloyd Dos (the boys’ second truck) will be on hand to talk tacos. You’ll also be able to purchase goods (like hats, t-shirts, and rocket sauce) and beverages, and participate in a raffle.
To see where Lloyd will be this week for your pre-sale tickets, check out their website or find them on Facebook.
