Northtowns finer dining
Superb small plates
More and more, the Northtowns are becoming an enclave of inventive and super-fresh cuisine. In this month's Spree, we offer a review of Prescott's Provisions in Tonawanda, which has been cranking out beautifully plated fare made with thoughtfulness and care. To wit, lightly wood-charred octopus with romesco, braised beans, and celery; burrata so fresh and creamy it will make you weep; and crispy Brussels sprouts tossed with bacon bits, tart mustard seeds, and walnuts. The primary and primal cooking fuel here is fire, so expect lots of smoky goodness in PP's seasonal menu. Put it on your list this spring and summer, when local produce is at its peak. And keep it on your list in the cooler months when you want something hearty like woodfired pizza or a truly OG double cheeseburger.
