The Boston-based band's obvious influence might be Guided by Voices, but musically, it's an ambitious stew of cello, organ, trumpet, and more. Comments: 0

Of course, we hate Brady and his Patriots, too. But our tormentors in New England deserve their stardom. They've actually won something in this league. Comments: 1

To classify the Bills' talent-seekers as "scouts" is an affront to Weebloes everywhere; Moe Green has a better eye for future NFL contributors. Comments: 0

Tim Kennedy's unceremonious departure this week from the Buffalo Sabres won't make the difference between making and missing the playoffs next April. After all, our most prolific spring memory of the kid was him getting rag-dolled by a guy twice his age. Comments: 1

Us younger Buffalo folk have often heard our older counterparts wax nostalgic about this town's NBA days, about the Braves, Bob McAdoo, Randy Smith, Jack Ramsay, and so on and so forth. But we'd be setting ourselves up for the usual heartbreak if they'd stayed. Comments: 1

There's no question where Buffalo Sabres fans—and other supporters of small-market NHL franchises—should stand in the wake of the NHL putting the kybosh on Ilya Kovalchuk's colossal contract with the New Jersey Devils. And that's directly in support of Commissioner Gary Bettman. Comments: 0

It’s summertime in WNY, but the living is not that easy, not if you want to take advantage of everything on offer.
June is our annual “City Guide” issue, and in addition to our features section, you’ll find plenty of events in our calendars to make you feel like a WNY know-it-all. Need five more that run the gamut from opera divas to a “Perennial Diva” (not Barbra Streisand) to a solo Beatle (not Paul)? Act naturally—you’ve come to the right place.
Buffalo Spree’s Best of WNY Party benefiting the National MS Society was held at Shea’s Performing Arts Center on June 24.
UB Law Alumni Association’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner was held at the hyatt Regency Buffalo on May 11.
The Graycliff Gala was held at the Larkin Building in Buffalo on June 25.
Buffalo State College’s 13th Annual Foundation Scholarship Gala was held on April 24 at the Connecticut Street Armory.
The 21st Annual ECMC Lifeline Foundation Springfest Swingfest 2010 was held on May 1 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel.
