Description

Improvisational Comedy

ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport. Two teams of professional comedians compete for laughs and points while a referee calls fouls and gets suggestions from you, the loyal fans. At the end of the night, only one team heads home victorious.

Everything we do is improvised. We don't have scripts or pre-planned scenes. That's why a ComedySportz match wouldn't be possible without your suggestions. (Just make sure your suggestions are clean, or the referee will call the Brown Bag Foul on you, and you'll end up wearing a paper bag over your head for the rest of the game.)

ComedySportz is similar to television’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, but organized as a sporting event, ComedySportz is guaranteed to send you away in fits of laughter. The singing of the National Anthem starts off every match, two teams of actletes compete for laughs and points awarded by the fans, and a referee moderates and calls the fouls. Roughly ten improv games are played during each show and each show is approximately 90 minutes long.

Every show is different. Different fans yell out different suggestions at every show, and the number of games to choose from nears 200, including FairyTale Replay: a team will perform a scene from a familiar fairytale and then, based on audience suggestions, replay it in different styles. (Imagine, if you will, The Terminator playing the part of Cinderella, or Jack and the Beanstalk done as a Beatles medley.) In DVD, the referee - using an imaginary remote control – pauses, rewinds, and changes the zoom of an improvised 4-minute movie.

It’s comedy that’s funny enough for your bachelor party and clean enough for your church group.
