Description

The Erie Canal, the great engineering wonder that made Buffalo andmuch of the American northwest,  was a-building 200 years ago. As part of that celebration, The Campaign for Greater Buffalo—whose members gave Western New York its canal back in the form of the decade-long battle to save the Canal District—is debuting a special 3-hour tour of the Erie Canal.
Conducted by Tim Tielman, who led the campaign to save the Canal District, the tour includes the Canal District, Erie Basin & Lake Erie, LaSalle Park, Unity Island, Black Rock Canal, an operational lock, xx park in Tonawanda, Nikola Tesla’s world’s-first long-distance powerline, and, on July 15 and 22, a stop at Canalfest in the Tonawandas. A jam-packed tour with first-hand accounts of how the battle was won!
