The Usual Suspects

The Starlight Studio and Art Gallery, a program created by Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York, is pleased to present The Usual Suspects featuring the work of its studio participants. The opening reception will be held on Friday, June 1st, 2012 from 6pm - 9pm. The exhibition will be on view until June 29th, 2012. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday 9am – 4pm. This exhibition will include paintings, prints, drawings, fiber arts and ceramic sculpture.

The Starlight artists have been busy making clay and fiber dolls; richly embroidered wall pieces; and, one artist has completed an elaborate composition from quilling. For the first time hand-printed wrapping paper will be available for purchase. In addition, visitors will see that a new crop of small clay pins and magnets have been created as well as large mixed media works. While here, visitors will want to see the latest exhibit in the Blue Sink Café, Mystic People & Creatures, by Kimber Rodgers and Starlight’s photo exhibition, Architecture Exposed. The latest poetry by the Starlight Poets can be enjoyed from 7-7:30 in the library. As always, an assortment of drawings, paintings and sculpture will be on display and available for purchase.

 The Starlight Studio and Art Gallery provides individualized art instruction for adults with disabilities.  Participants work with professional artists to develop in the media of their choice.  By bringing participants together with professional artists in a studio/gallery setting, Starlight brings “outsider art” inside, opening new doors for both.
