Marquis Burton

Meet, listen, and learn from one of Buffalo’s top slam poets. Marquis Burton, aka “Ten Thousand,” has represented Buffalo in the National Poetry Slam for the past decade and has been the official coach for Buffalo’s team for three years. Burton also teaches young poets through Shea’s, Say Yes, and Just Buffalo Literary Center. Through his commitment to poetry, Burton has helped inspire young people throughout Western New York to find their own voices. What inspires him? From a recent Spree interview: “The pain of my past. The joy of my future. Driving in the snow. Pretty much everything.”
