In spite of all the efforts the new Garden Buffalo Niagara organization—and others—have made, most Western New Yorkers think they have to wait until the end of July to tour private gardens.  What they don’t realize is that they can get a head start on garden touring this weekend and next, through the Open Gardens program and the multiple community-based garden walks that occur all month long. Here are this weekend’s garden events:

Thursday, July 7

Check out the Open Gardens program, which offers twelve groups of exceptional gardens throughout the region, open weekly throughout July. There is always plenty of time to fully explore the gardens and chat with the gardeners. Only the general neighborhoods and dates are listed here. Visit gardensbuffaloniagara.com for the exact addresses of the gardens, or pick up an Open Gardens book.
