After only a few years in its first location, Barrel + Brine has outgrown its space. Recently, B+B opened the doors of its brand new location on Chandler Street. The brainchild of husband and wife team, RJ and Lindsey Marvin, Barrel + Brine started the operation dedicated strictly to pickle production. The team slowly added a variety of items ranging from tonics, kombucha, vinegars, bloody mary mix, sauerkraut, and, of course, pickles. It wasn’t long until RJ, who has an extensive culinary background, started hosting pop-up menu days where he would prepare favorites like his pickled sausage and kimchi fried rice. The following grew and grew, often selling out at the farmers market and in stores. The new, much larger location offers the varieties of jarred pickles we all know and love plus an extensive menu consisting of snack-sized portions like pickled sausage, pickled eggs, BreadHive pretzels, and a remarkably delicious Matzo ball soup. You can also get a pickle plate, bagels and schmears (sourced from BreadHive), or sandwiches like The Classic–corned beef, deli mustard (made in house), BreadHive rye, sour pickle. Order a flight of kombucha to wash it all down.
Barrel + Brine is located at 155 Chandler Street, its June hours are Sunday 11 a.m.–4p.m., Wednesday & Thursday 11 a.m.–9 p.m., and Saturday 3–9 p.m.
