Hot 5: Wine, Wheels, and Song

My eleven-month-old doesn’t quite have train fever yet, but it’s likely just a matter of time before he sleeps on Thomas the Tank Engine bed sheets or demands tickets for the “Day Out with Thomas” (May 6 to 8 and 13 to 15 at the Medina Railroad Museum, doncha know). Clearly, trains are a big deal for young and old alike, and that makes the work of organizations like the Western New York Railway Historical Society vitally important. You can support the group and help raise money toward the restoration of a 1937 caboose at the Williamsville Depot by attending Wine, Wheels, and Songs on May 13. Sponsored by the Society, the evening features a wine tasting with twenty New York State wineries, hors d’oeuvres, auctions, and more. It’s year four for this popular event, so do your part. Thomas would thank you if he could, and Sir Topham Hatt would likely agree.

6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at the Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Rd., Depew; 648-0972 or wnyrailway@gmail.com.
