Music is in the air! July is jam-packed with outdoor performances

Artpark Music in the Woods

July 7, 14, 21,  28

When it was founded in 1974, Artpark was a place for internationally acclaimed music, dance, and art installations, as well as cross-genre collaborations. In recent years, the park has become known more for its popular summer concert series, but there are many indications that the leadership here is interested in bringing back some of the magical interactions between nature and human creativity that brought it so much fame in the seventies. Examples of this include last summer’s The Odyssey, 2017’s Earth Harp/Plasticiens Volants performances, the yearly Fairy House Festival events, and the repainting of the Gene Davis parking lot, which was the world’s largest painting when it was created in 1979. Another step in this direction is represented by a series of musical performances (classical, traditional, and jazz) not in the ampitheatre or the Mainstage, but in the woods, near the Niagara River shoreline. There are four distinguished groups of musicians scheduled to play in this gorgeous spot and the performances are free.

4 p.m. at Artpark (450 South Fourth Street,  Lewiston)
