From the Editor I am proud to report that Buffalo Spree was the winner of a Bronze award for editorial excellence in general criticism at the annual conference of the City and Regional Magazine Asociation, held in Las Vegas in May. Thanks to the perceptive and entertaining art criticism of Spree freelance writer Bruce Adams, we beat out magazines from cities like Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia in that category. Smaller market magazines like Buffalo Spree are overshadowed in the CRMA awards by larger-circulation publications, who generally take home most of the awards, so this was a big win for us. Thanks, Bruce! On to the summer calendar of Spree events, pausing for a brief thank you to all who attended the Spree Music Party at the Sphere on May 12 and the Buckaroo Bash at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center on May 19, and to all who stopped by our booth at the Allen West Art Fest, held June 11-12. July 9-24, David Laurence Publications will have a booth at the Horizons Home Show, held on Lake Forest in Amherst. Be sure to stop by and see us! And in August, Buffalo Spree is co-sponsoring another Burchfield-Penney Happy Hour, Samba in the City, on August 25, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Expect theme cocktails and snacksand, as always, great music. Also, our sister publication, Forever Young, will be sponsoring Grandparents’ Day at the Erie County Fair on August 16. We hope to see you at both events. Finally, summer is here. Have a great one!
