We have asked a professional resource, Castle Connolly Medical Limited, to supply us with a list of the 100 top doctors in the Western New York area. We do this as a service to our readers, also recognizing that this is only one tool that may be useful in making this important decision. Choosing a good doctor can be bewildering, especially when someone you love falls seriously ill and needs specialized care, so we hope that this list will be of some assistance.

The methodology: Castle Connolly’s physician-led team of researchers follows a rigorous screening process to select top doctors on both the national and regional levels. Using mail surveys, telephone surveys, and electronic ballots, they ask physicians and the medical leadership of hospitals to nominate highly skilled, exceptional doctors. Criteria developed by the Castle Connolly research team lead to the final selection of those physicians most highly regarded by their peers in each specialty.
