From the Editor Just before we went to press, I had the great pleasure of attending the dedication of the reconstructed Darwin Martin residential complex. As most of you know, Frank Lloyd’s masterpiece has nearly been restoredall but the finishing touches are completedto its original grandeur as an estate comprised of several independent and connecting structures, not just the one building we have all known for many years. Later this month, visitors will finally be able to tour the pergola, the conservatory, and the stable, as well as the main house. I am sure that they will be as awe-struck as I was to see Wright’s original design finally brought back to magnificent life. At the dedication, many dignitaries and important patrons of the restoration were present, but I’d like to take this small space to note two friends who have played a vital role in guiding the reconstruction process: Jack Quinan, Martin House curator and Ted Lownie, of Hamilton Houston Lownie, the architectural firm charged with this project. Both are shown chatting in the picture above, in front of the conservatory and connecting walkway to the Barton house. Welcome back, Darwin Martin House Complex!
