From the Editor Welcome to our second annual Best of WNY issue; we’re getting the hang of it by this time, and we’re more convinced than ever that a combo panel/poll process is the way to go. We don’t think we’d be providing a true service to readers if our “best of” was purely a popularity contest. Too many of the nooks and crannies of local culture get missed that way. Our fellow city/regional magazines across the U.S. feel the same way; very few depend solely on polls. Look for more big changes in the categories when we do this next year, though. We’d also like to thank all of you who came to our Best of WNY party, or stopped by the Spree booth during the Allentown Art Festival. Look for more Spree goodness at Buffalo Old Home Week July 1-8 and the Buffalo Book Fair on July 7. Finally, a big thank you to the Burchfield-Penney Art Center for awarding us an Esprit de Corps award for best corporation. It’s almost as if the award was named for us (get it ... Spree de Corps).
