From 1968 to around 1975 or so, Spree ran a rather ambitious fashion section, including location shooting at sites all over Western New York, such as Old Fort Niagara, the Albright-Knox, Niagara Falls, the Kenan Center—even a demolition site. We love these for the period fashions, the lovely models, and the professional flair. The photographer is Thomas Lowes; the clothes are from such long-departed Buffalo classics as Par Avion, Ley’s, Hengerer’s, and the Country Corner. Some of the retailers, such as Mabel Danahy and Joseph Palanker & Sons (now Furs by Joseph), are still in business.
