Ahh, spring. Birds, blooms, and SpringfestErie County Medical Center’s biggest fundraiser event of the year. Scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo, the gala is sponsored in part by Spree, and we’re honored to be a part of what keeps ECMC providing excellent health care services to the Buffalo community.
The black-tie event’s theme is “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” and the fun begins at 6 p.m. Featuring live music by the Buffalo-based Joyryde and a silent auction, the night's highlight is an awards presentation. Three honorees will be saluted during the evening: the Lifeline Chairman’s Award, Distinguished Physician, and Distinguished Nurse. Fancy hors d’oeuvres passed by servers in white gloves will be followed by an elegant dinner.
Springfest is put on by the Lifeline Foundation, Inc. This not-for-profit corporation’s mission is to generate enough resources to keep ECMC open and running for the thousands of Western New Yorkers who depend on its services. Gia Coone, the Foundation’s executive director, hopes to raise $200,000 for the hospital. Part of the proceeds will fund the expansion of ECMC’s emergency department and surgical operating rooms, two improvements needed for accommodating the increasing number of patients.
Each year a business or community leader is chosen as chairperson for the fundraiser. This year, Sterling Kozlowski, president of KeyBank’s WNY district, has the honor. Kozlowski is an active member of the community, serving as a board member for the Buffalo Zoo, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of WNY, and a variety of other organizations throughout the area. “We are confident that his involvement will further advance our vitally important mission to assist ECMC,” Coone says.
