Empire State Development has begun expansion and improvement of the historic Colored Musicians Club, located in Buffalo’s Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor. With the aim of attracting more visitors to the site, the project will add more than 2,000 square feet of space to the existing building. Improvements include an accessible main entrance and elevator, a new reception/lobby area, and updates to infrastructure such as plumbing and electrical lines. The Colored Musicians Club is the only continuously running, all-Black owned club in the United States and has been designated a historical landmark and preservation site.
