A few newsy pieces have come across my desk recently. I thought I’d share them with you.

Several dinners and food events are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks. They are interesting opportunities for foodies and those who love to dine out to experience WNY cuisine in a very different way. From lowbrow to highbrow, we hope that one of these offerings interests you.

 

Wednesday, October 12th Chef Mike Andrzejewski of Seabar will partner with guest chef Edward Forester to present a unique dinner. "Chefs Gone Wild" will include game, wild-caught seafood, and foraged ingredients. Chef Forester is a WNY native who attended the Culinary Institute of America and has worked in the kitchens of Jean Georges Vongerichten, Georges Perrier, Graham Elliott, and Paul Kahan. Western New York’s wineries will make a play for your palate at the Broadway Market’s October Wine Festival. Scheduled to take place on October 14 and 15 from 10a.m. – 5p.m.  This is a great opportunity to sample some of our region’s sippable wares and to make some purchases from the Market’s existing vendors.

 

October 16th will give chili fans a chance to peek inside the re-opened Statler Towers. Tickets include access to live music, a kid-friendly area, and lots and lots of chili! Entry fee is $5 and each bowl of chili is only $1. Check it out at buffalochilifest.com.

 

October 24th Buffalo's own Dinner with Danger will provide the opportunity to sample a chef's tasting at Taste of Thai, one of Buffalo's best Thai restaurants. On Sunday, November 6th Chef Steven Gedra of Bistro Europa will present his second Snout to Tail dinner. This event features a heritage breed hog from T-Meadow farm in Lockport, considered by many to be the finest pork available in our region. Anyone who has been to Bistro Europa knows that Gedra has a way with pork, and the dishes served at this meal will certainly be no exception. Sunday, November 13th, Mike Andrzejewski of Seabar will team up with Chef Steven Gedra of Bistro Europa for their second annual truffle dinner. Last year we told Spree.com readers all about the amazing meal this duo served, each course more fabulous than the last (you can view a slideshow depcting each course online). You won’t want to miss this year’s, which will take place at Seabar and includes massive quantities of fresh Italian white truffles. This 12-course meal costs $195 per person, plus tax, gratuity, and beverages. Remember, fresh truffles fetch around $190 an ounce! Call Seabar for details and reservations. 332.2928
