This collection is an ode to the travel we all miss. Serena Orlando, the winner of Buffalo State Runway 2020, was inspired by a family trip to Palermo, Sicily. While connecting with her family roots and her Nonna, she experienced the beauty of Italian daily life. Her interpretation of her theme, “Voices,” was sparked by feelings of being uncomfortable in a strange country and not knowing how to speak the language. These barriers informed a collection that embraces traditional Italian-inspired looks with a hint of disruption, asymmetry, and a mix of old and new fabrics—some of which belonged to her Nonna. The result is an elegant and playful spring/summer collection.
